Cecil Elmer Clevenger, 81 of Glen Ferris, formerly of Webster County, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at CAMC Memorial Hospital. He was born February 18, 1943 in Jumbo to the late Cecil and Erma Cogar Clevenger.
He was a Tipple Foreman for Pittston Coal for many years and a Christian by faith. He was an avid blue grass music fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Irene “Reni” Wilson Clevenger; brothers: Gene, Dorlan, Delmar, Wilmer, Don, and Kenneth Clevenger; and sisters: Vercie Gregory, Joy Jones, and Karen Taylor.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Dan Clevenger, Russ (Shelly) Clevenger, Owen Clevenger, Deborah Collins, and Jim Phares, III; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; the mother of his sons, Kay Clevenger; companion, Brenda Carver; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends to mourn his passing.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs. Funeral Services to celebrate Cecil’s life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Bergoo Baptist Church with Pastor Bennie Cowger officiating. Interment will follow in Meadowland Cemetery, Bergoo.
