Clyde Gaston Riffle, 80 of Ripley, WV, formerly of Strouds Creek, Webster County, WV, died April 12, 2010, in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, WV. He was born May 16, 1929, in Strouds Creek, the son of the late William Batton & Lela Daisy Todd Riffle. He was a member of UMWA for 38 years and made baby quilts which he gave to family and friends all over the United States. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Currence Riffle; brother, Carl and Earl Riffle; sisters, Dana Fetterman and Lucille Handschumacher; and son in law, William Long. He is survived by his wife: Vada George Riffle of Ripley, WV, sons: Dale Riffle of Flatwoods, WV, Denver (Inace) Riffle of Tioga, WV, Eddie (Samantha) Riffle of Dunnellon, FL, Bill (Pam) Riddle, Larry (Kim) Riddle both of Ripley, WV, and Robert (Alicia) Gillespie of Winifred, WV; daughters: Linda (Junior) Young of Summersville, Bertha Cummings(Larry Curry) of Tioga, WV, Judy and Debbra Gillespie and Deanna Layes all of Charleston, WV and Anna Long of Columbus, OH; 24 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Cottle First Church of God, Cottle, WV with Rev. Harold Jones officiating. Burial will be in WV Memorial Gardens, Calvin, WV. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dodd & Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
