Delmos D. Simmons, 76, of Hacker Valley went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at United Healthcare Center, Bridgeport.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening, making apple butter, and taking care of the apple orchard. Delmos was a former Sago Coal Miner and a loving father. He attended Long Run Community Church.
Born April 4, 1943 in Hacker Valley, he was the son of the late Harvey and Macil (Carpenter) Simmons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nora Ann Simmons; second wife, Monna Simmons; son, Kenneth Simmons; daughter, Susan Ann Simmons; and brother, Jimmy Simmons.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Brenda Kay Bender, Shelia Anderson, and Samantha McCourt (husband, Phillip); brothers, Dana Simmons (wife, Sylvia), Chester Simmons, and Sheldon Simmons (wife, Rose); sisters, Agnes Warner, Gladys Cool (husband, Gene), Genevieve Moats (husband, Arley), Cheryl Bender (husband, Willard), and Randa Davis (husband, Junior); twelve grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Services to celebrate Delmos’ life will be held 10AM, Friday, December 27, at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with Pastor Larry Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in Hodam Creek Cemetery, Hacker Valley.
Friends may join the family for visitation 6-9pm Thursday evening.
