Edra “Mae” Simmons, age 82, of Webster Springs passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Webster Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 13, 1936, in Webster County, to Myrvin Young and Ada Jack and was a lifelong resident of Webster County.
Known to her family as “Mammaw”, she will always be remembered for her kind heart and the unconditional love she gave her family. She had a special talent for painting and decorating her husband Woody’s crafts, loved country music (especially Alan Jackson), and made a potato soup so good that her table would be filled with her children and grandchildren as soon as word got out she had made it.
Mae is survived by her 5 children: daughter Vickie Sabola of Ohio, sons David (Sandra), Roger, Jeffrey (Donna), and Gary Simmons, all of Webster Springs. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Howard (Ruth) Young, Arlene Hines, Cellene (Phillip) Harden, Terry (Linda) Jack, Linda (Aaron) Cowger, and Karen Cutlip; and many other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald “Woody” Simmons, and brothers and sisters.
