Florence Rice

Florence A. Rice, 93, of Webster Springs, WV passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Webster County Memorial Hospital. She was born March 17, 1917 at Trout, WV. Florence is preceded in death by her parents mother Lula (Gladwell) and step-fater Alfred Truex; husband Fred Rice; son Delford Rice and infant daughter. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Deloris and Ray Beckwith of Webster Springs; Daughter-in-law Patricia Rice of Bolair, WV; sisters Geraldine Brown of Summersville, Ruth Crookshanks of Clintonville and Charlotte Stone of Summersville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Florence was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Bolair, WV, where she had been a Sunday School teacher. She loved the Lord, all her family and many friends. She was a living, witnessing example to everyone she met. Mom rayed daily for all of us and for our country to change the course it is on. She loved to garden, hand embroidery and hand quilting. She is where she longed to be. The many wonderful memories she life are ours to treasure. That is what she was, a true one of a kind Treasure. Friends may gather with the family on Friday, June 11, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM in the chapel of Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 12 at 11 AM also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rice Cemetery, Bolair WV. Others Lord, help me live from day to day In such a self-forgetful way That even when I kneel to pray My prayers shall me for OTHERS. Help me in all the work I do To ever be sincere and true And to know that all I'd do for you Must needs be done for OTHERS. Let Self be crucified and slain And buried deep; and all in vain May my efforts be to rise again Unless we live for OTHERS. And when my work on earth is done And my new work in Eden begun May I forget the crown I've won While thinking still of OTHERS. OTHERS, Lord yes OTHERS Let this my motto be Help me to live for OTHERS That I might live like THEE.
