George Sparks

George Sparks of Webster Springs died Monday, April 11, 2011 at the age of 61. George was born on March 30, 1950 in Cottle, WV to the late George Junior Sparks and Delphia Sparks.

George was a lifelong resident of Webster County; he was a member of the Webster Springs Volunteer Fire Department, an active member of Webster County Woodchopping Festival and the Webster Springs Main Street Committee. Steve felt very strongly about helping out in his community any way he could. He could always be heard as the voice on the microphone during the Grand Feature Parade. His wife, kids and grandkids meant the world to him.

Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother; Charles Sparks.

George is survived by his wife; Linda Sparks of Webster Springs, two daughters; Tammy (Dewayne) Lowther, and Joyce (Rick) Clayton both of Webster Springs. Two sons; George Kevin (Jackie) Sparks of Webster Springs, and Tim Sparks of Cross Lanes, two brothers; Delbert (Judy) Sparks, and Gary (Nadine) Sparks both of Webster Springs, and four sisters; Ruth (Darrell) Clevenger, Reva Williams, Carol (Truman) Riffle and Ellen Ann Sparks all of Webster Springs. George was also blessed with eleven grandchildren; Hannah Sparks, Katie Lowther, Cody Lowther, Rianna Clayton, Dylan Sparks, Macy Clayton, Jacob Clayton, McKenzie Sparks, Drew Lowther, Seth Clayton and Kennedy Cogar.

Services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home at 11 AM with Rev. Doy Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at Woods Cemetery in Webster Springs. Friends may call on Friday, April 15, 2011 from              6 PM-9 PM. Online condolences can be made at doddreedfh.com
