Harley Ray Vandevender, 76 of Webster Springs passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Webster County Memorial Hospital. He was born October 6, 1935 in Mill Creek, WV to William Stanley and Laura Virginia Scott Vandevender. He lived most of his life in Webster County other than when he lived in New York and Ohio and attended Bergoo Baptist Church. He was an Office Clerk, Security Guard, and Truck Driver for P & L Coal Company and a Webster Springs Police Officer. He formerly enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, roller skating and ramp digging.
Harley is survived by his wife Anna Jean Rose Vandevender of Webster Springs; sons Johnnie Ray Vandevender and Brian Keith Vandevender, Sr. both of Wheeling; and brother Nelson Vandevender of Bergoo. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters Virginia Ruth and Annette Lynn Vandevender; and sister Lucille Vandevender.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Bennie Cowger and Rev. Cofer "Bud" Cochran officiating. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Vandevender Family Cemetery, Bergoo.
