Herbert Lee “Bud” Cowger, 86 of Hacker Valley passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his home. He was born May 31, 1929 to Wilbert and Dorsie Vance Cowger and was a woodsman for Robert Pudder for many years. He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and loved to coon hunt, raise a garden, work on electronics, and do wood working. He loved spending time with his great nieces and nephews.
Bud is survived by his brother and sisters Breanes Blankenship of Richwood, William Cowger of Spotsylvania, VA, Betty Jordan of Augusta, GA, and Rosemary Cogar of Hacker Valley; nieces and nephews John, Keith, Robert, and Don Blankenship, Barry and Eric Jordan, Carla Beer, and Kathy and Sandy Cogar; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Don Cowger and Clarence “Tinker” Cowger.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Bud’s life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Vance Cemetery, Hacker Valley.
