Homer Dallas Grounds 72 of Webster Springs, WV, departed this world on Jan. 14, 2011 at Webster County Memorial Hospital, Webster Springs. He was born in Charleston, WV, Dec. 11, 1938, son of the late Arthur and Almeda Stover Grounds. He lived most of his life in Webster County and Ohio, attended the Elk Valley Chapel, and enjoyed fishing and digging ramps. He was a coal miner by profession.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son: Billy Wayne Grounds, and 8 siblings.
Surviving is his companion: Lucille Tenney of Webster Springs, sons: James Dallas Grounds and Phillip Steven Grounds both of Ohio, and Homer Ray Grounds of Webster Springs, daughters: Janie Blazer of TX, and Sarah Christian of Craigsville, WV, sister: Bessie Fisher of Craigsville, WV, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, WV, Sunday, Jan. 16, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Doy Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin, WV. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, at the funeral home.
