Irene M. Arthur

Irene M. Arthur, 95 of Hacker Valley passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025 at Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon.

She was born August 2, 1929 in Diana to the late French “Bun” and Mellie May Cochran Hines.

She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU sports fan and enjoyed going to games until her health declined. She enjoyed canning and spending time at the beach. She was a Mother figure to several people in the community and was loved by all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Issac Arthur; son Bennie Arthur; grandchildren: B.J. Arthur and Kimberly Arthur; brothers: Hillard “Dick”, Johnnie, Frank, and Bob; and sisters: Neva and Helen.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Mary Jane Hall and Joyce A. Arthur; brother Buddy; sisters Myrl, Jewell, and Shirley; grandchildren: Raymond Arthur, Crystal Gail Goforth, and Michael Hall; eight great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends to mourn her passing.

The family wishes to express their thanks to all the bus drivers who took the time to “make Irene’s day”, the staff at Holbrook Healthcare Center and the staff of Dodd & Reed Funeral Home for their wonderful care and compassion extended to Irene and her family.

Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Harrison Cochran Cemetery with Pastor Eddie Bender officiating.
