James F. “Bud” Burroughs, 85 of Webster Springs passed peacefully from this life surrounded by his loving family, Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Webster Memorial Hospital.
Bud was born August 13, 1939, in Buckhannon and was the son of the late Forrest and Rebecca Rogers Burroughs. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Jack Burroughs, sister, Jeannine White and her husband Richard Lee White, brother-in-law, Richard Brannan and also a niece, Brenda Garden
Bud was a US Army veteran, serving with the military police as a K9 handler. He spent his working career as an engineer in the oil and gas industry in the Glenville area for 40 years. Bud enjoyed Westerns, whether it was reading or watching on TV, enjoyed hunting, watching NASCAR, he enjoyed a good cup of coffee; but most of all he loved his wife, Cookie.
Surviving is his loving wife, Carolyn “Cookie” Moore Burroughs, son, Todd Burroughs, daughter, Angie Sprouse and her husband Mike; sister, Marty Brannon, sister-in-law, Hilda Burroughs; two grandchildren, Isaac Sprouse and his wife Daydra and Alexus (fiancé Anthony Dean) Sprouse, three great grandchildren, Anslee and Gatlin Dean and Avelyn Jane Sprouse and two on the way; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs. Friends may join the family for visitation 12 Noon until time of service.
