James M. "Jamie" Hamrick, 71 went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Webster County Memorial Hospital. He was born June 23, 1942 in Webster Springs to Adam "Eck" and Violet M. Frederick Hamrick. He was a devout Christian and a member of the Elk Valley Chapel where he was a Deacon. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, children, his loving wife Catherine, and his extended family. Jamie never met a stranger and was a kind and gentle friend to all who knew him.
In addition to his wife Catherine, he is survived by his daughter Lanette (Wayne) Short; son James "Jimmy" (Denise) Hamrick; granddaughters Katelyn and Kacie Markle and Megan and Madison Hamrick; brothers Watson "Wade" Hamrick, Wallace "Wally" Hamrick, Harvey Hamrick, and Elbert Hamrick; and sister Mary Harriett Waldron. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Hazelgene "Jane" Clevenger and Billie June Fish.
Memorial Services to celebrate Jamie's life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Elk Valley Chapel. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. A dinner will follow at the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jamie's memory to Elk Valley Chapel. Family Services provided by Dodd & Reed Funeral Home.
