Judy Sparks

Judy Mae Wright Sparks, 76 of Webster Springs passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 09, 2017 at Webster County Memorial Hospital. She was born September 13, 1940 in Webster Springs to Goff U. and Artie Naomi Miller Smith and Stanley Wright. She was raised by her mother, step-father, and grandmother and was a devoted Army wife to her husband.

Along with her husband Delbert, she was the owner and operator of D & J Video in Belington. She loved writing books, both children and adults alike, writing poems, short stories, and even one novel. She was a Christian woman who loved God with all her heart. Her love of God and family were her priorities in life. She was raised Baptist but later in life joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church where she was very active when she was able.

Judy is survived by her daughters Nancy (husband Daniel) Henline of Webster Springs and Sandy (husband Mitchell) Holcomb of Summersville; grandson Tony Holcomb; great-grandchildren Haliey Powers, Noah Holcomb, Matthew Holcomb, and Natalie Holcomb; brothers Kenneth (Tina) Smith of Charleston, Charles (Karen) Smith of Strouds Creek, Ernest (Heather) Smith; William Roy Post, and Roger Wright of Webster Springs; sisters Norma (Robert) Hamrick of Bolair, Donna (Danny) Pelfrey of Ohio, Linda Armentrout of Cowen, and Diane Amos; and sister-in-law Jean Smith of Craigsville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Delbert Sparks; and brother Denzil Wright.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Judy’s life will be held on Sunday at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Elder Mark Wantz officiating. Interment will follow in Gospel Fellowship Church Cemetery, Upperglade.
