Macil Simmons, 93 of Buckhannon, WV, formerly of Webster County, died at the home of her daughter, Agnes Warner , on March 9, 2012. She was born in Webster County, WV, March 4, 1919, daughter of the late, Newton and Roena Cowger Carpenter. She had lived all of her life in Webster County, attended the Corner Stone Community Church, Buckhannon, and formerly attended the Hacker Valley United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Harvey H. Simmons, son: Jimmy Simmons, 4 grandchildren and one great grandson.
Macil is survived by her children: sons; Delmos (Mona) Simmons, Dana (Sylvia) Simmons, Chester Simmons, and Sheldon (Rose) Simmons, daughters; Gladys (Hartsel) Cool, Agnes Warner, Genevieve (Arley) Moats, Cheryl (Willard) Bender, and Randa (Junior) Davis, brothers; Opha Carpenter, Hubert Carpenter, and Olen Carpenter, sisters; Edna Simmons, Alma Anderson, Allta Cogar, Bertha Simmons, Goldie Cool, and Margie Cutlip, 22 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, WV, with Rev. Curt Davis officiating. Burial will be at the Ware Cemetery, Hacker Valley, WV. Friends may call on Tuesday, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
