Ordy James Hamrick of Webster County died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the age of 97. Ordy was born September 18, 1913 in Webster Springs to the late Andrew "Jackson" Hamrick and Sarah (Baldwin) Hamrick.
Ordy lived in Ohio, but lived most of his life in Webster County and worked as a steel worker and coal miner. He is preceded into death by his parents: Andrew and Sarah Hamrick, wife: Ona Cowger Hamrick, son: Cecil Hamrick, three half brothers: Esley, Lacy, and Alvie Hamrick, three brothers: Corley, Leamon, and Freeman, six sisters: Berty, Effie, Goldie, Alta, Betty and Della Hamrick. Ordy is survived by his son: Howard Hamrick and wife Judy of Austintown, OH, two brothers: Okey Hamrick of Grassy Creek, WV, and O'Dell Hamrick of Webster Springs, WV, sister: Nettie Cutlip of Webster Springs, WV, three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Services will be held Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 2pm at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home in Webster Springs, WV. Burial will follow at Ware Cemetery in Hacker Valley, WV. Friends may call from 6pm-8pm on Saturday, February 19, 2011. Online condolences can be made at doddreedfh.com.
