Rev. Dr. J.D. Reed, Jr.

Rev. Dr. J.D. Reed Jr., 51, of Parkersburg, passed away at home, Sunday, February 16, 2025 after a nine-month battle with ALS. He was born December 21, 1973 in Webster Springs to Alice Reed and the late John Reed Sr.

He was a member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church. He was a musician and lover of all music. J.D. served as Pastor with the West Virginia Baptist Commission from 1996 – 2011 and the International Ministries from 2011- present. His passion was teaching other pastors and leaders. He loved Star Wars, Nationals Baseball, and most of all his children and his grandson. J.D. lived in Bolivia and served in Latin America teaching pastors and leaders. He was the director of House of Hope Foundation in Cochabamba, Bolivia. 

Along with his mother, J.D. is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Reed; daughters, Grace (Sam) Jackson-Reed and Abie (Josh) Boehm; his son, Nathan Reed; a sister, Kristen Street (Pat); a brother-in-law, Michael Karie; his grandson, Reed Boehm; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Wayne Wilburn. 

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2025 at South Parkersburg Baptist Church with Pastor Rich Blain officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 from 3 -5 p.m. and 6 – 9 p.m. at the church. A private burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Webster Springs on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
