Sandra Lynn (Cogar) Palmer, 55, of Beckley, formerly of Webster Springs, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at the James Cancer Center, Columbus, Ohio surrounded by her family.
Born September 4, 1962 in Painesville, Oh, she was the daughter of the late Vonnie Fred and Jean (Payne) Cogar. After graduating University of Charleston with an Associate’s degree in nursing, Sandy was a nurse at Summersville Regional Medical Center and a Case Manager for Right At Home in Beckley. She had been a banker and loan officer for 22 years with United Bank. She was an avid Photographer, with primary emphasis on Woodrow Wilson Sports teams and she enjoyed baking and crafting. She served on the Webster County Woodchopping Committee, and was a HOSTS Mentor for Webster Springs Elementary School and a member of the Women’s Club. She attended church at the United Methodist Temple in Beckley. Sandy was a very loving mother, wife, sister, and auntie.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Larry Palmer; daughter, Bailey Palmer; sisters, Karen (husband, Paul) Armentrout, Beth (husband, Bub) Hayhurst; half-brother, David Cogar; half-sisters, Polly Cogar and Chrissy Cogar; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by an infant son, Baby Boy Palmer.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, June 1, at Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs with the Rev. Paul Rounds officiating. Also, a memorial service will be held 5pm, Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Family Worship Center in Beckley. Friends may join the family to visit one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Stephen M. Cogar Memorial Scholarship Fund located at First Community Bank in Cowen, WV.
