Sherley Wentz

Sherley Iline Simmons Wentz, 94, widow of George Donald Wentz, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 14, 2025 while residing at The Springs in Simpsonville. Born on August 25, 1930 in Hacker Valley, WV, she was a daughter of the late Ezra Simmons and Leafie Lizzie Fisher Simmons.

Sherley worked several jobs in retail. She was employed at Cutlip’s Department Store and also worked at Walgreens in the prescription drug department. Sherley enjoyed working in the garden and sewing. She loved cooking Sunday dinner for her family and was of the Methodist faith.

Sherley is survived by her son David Wentz (Donna); three grandchildren, Jeremy Wentz (Melissa), Jessica Wentz, and Joshua Wentz (Constance); and a brother, Hurley Simmons. In addition to her husband and parents, Sherley was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Wentz; a brother, Millard Simmons; and a sister, Betty Mader.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Fletcher Funeral Service from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm. A funeral service will follow in the chapel beginning at 3:00 pm.

A second visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, WV from 2:00 pm- 3:00 pm. A funeral service will follow in the chapel beginning at 3:00 pm. Sherley will be interred at Hacker Valley Cemetery following the funeral.
