Annapolis , Maryland - Thelma Mae Morrison Hamrick of Bergoo , West Virginia , passed away at the Bay Ridge Nursing Home on Sunday, June 06, 2010 following a stroke. She was 78 years of age. She was born in Goshen , Upshur County , West Virginia on August 24, 1931 , the first daughter of Jay Lewis Morrison and Vocie Irene Fitzgerald, both deceased. She had lived most of her life in Webster County . She married Seybert J. Hamrick, deceased, on April 28, 1951 in Moundsville , West Virginia and worked in several independent sales positions prior to retiring. She was a member of Saint Anne's Catholic Church in Webster Springs . She is survived by two sons: Arnold Morrison of Louisville, Kentucky and Mitchall Hamrick of Tall Timbers, Maryland ; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and, two sisters: Bonnie Morrison of Florida and Betty Blanchfield of Virginia . After her family, Thelma loved the Catholic Church, Country Music (especially Miss Loretta Lynn), West Virginia and traveling. Over the course of the five years that she resided at the Bay Ridge Nursing Home, she regularly received awards from the resident's and staff for being the "Most Lovable Resident". Most of the resident's, even those that were older, referred to her as "Mom" or "Mommy Thelma". She will be deeply missed. Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, June 10, 2010 in the chapel of Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 11 at 10 AM at Saint Anne's Catholic Church, Webster Spings. Burial will follow in the WV Memorial Gardens, Calvin WV.
