Thurl Clifton Hamrick, 88, of Youngstown, OH, formerly of Bergoo, WV passed away at home on February 22, 2015. He was a roofer and a veteran of the United States Army with service in the World War II era, serving as a Military Policeman when the Marshall Plan was implemented.
Born November 22, 1926 in Bergoo, Thurl was the son of the late Bessie (Higgins) and Russell Hamrick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Louise Lorraine (Cogar) Hamrick.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Paula Thurl Boggs, Patsy Louise Small, Michael Clifton Hamrick, Mitchell David Hamrick, Patricia Ann Fleming and Randy Lynn Hamrick; grandchildren, Donald Boyd, Jr., Monica Kay Richards, Leyjah Hamrick and Jeylah Hamrick; great-granddaughter, Taylor Marie Childers; brother, Theron Hamrick; sisters, Thelma Bennett, Thelda Owens, Therma Blair and Thurlene Hyre; the mother of his youngest child, Aretta Barker; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs. Friends may join the family one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home directly following the funeral service.
