Willard Basil Cowger, 87, of Jumbo, passed away on October 18, 2015 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family.
Born November 23, 1927 in Hacker Valley, he is the son of the late Ora and Leona (Brake) Cowger. In addition to his parents, Willard was preceded in death by his brother Delmer Cowger, his first wife, whom he was married to for 42 years, Helen Cowger and several step-grandchildren.
He was a member of Hopewell Fire Department for many years and was the Captain of Fire Police. He worked for J&L Steel in Alquippa, PA for 30 years. In addition, he worked for Webster Hardwood in Dixie. Willard attended church at New Hope Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of over 20 years, Thelma Eileen Cowger; sons, Willard (wife, Alice) Cowger of Stuart, FL, Martin (wife, Kim) Cowger of Alquippa, PA, Bill (companion, Sue Brunton) Cowger of Beaver Falls, PA; step-daughter, Tori (husband, Joe) Heubi of Morgantown; grandchildren, Beth Lamorce, Melissa Cowger, and Bailey Heubi; eight step-grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Oleta (husband, John) Carpenter of Webster Springs, Delcie Simmons, Alberta Cowger, Dona (husband, Mike) Spears, all of Medina, OH; brother, Doyle (wife, Linda) of Niles, OH; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held 1PM, Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home with the Reverend Lonnie Casto officiating. Burial will follow at Cogar Cemetery, Laurel Fork Road, Jumbo.
Friends may join the family for visitation from 6-9 on Friday night at the funeral home.
